Archaeological Scan & Dig at the site of the former Calgarth Estate 15 – 27 July 2019

Another Space, which produces and manages the Lake District Holocaust Project will carry out an archaeological scan and dig at the site of Calgarth Estate, a unique historical Second World War location with a dramatic link to the Holocaust. It was home to both three hundred Jewish child Holocaust Survivors on their arrival in the UK in 1945 and to the workers at the nearby Sunderland Flying boat factory, and their families. The survey and dig will be carried out in the grounds of the site, now The Lakes School, from 15 to 27 July 2019.
