“The project has been hugely successful in terms of the outreach. All of the volunteers were a pleasure to work with, they brought lots of different experiences and knowledge with them which helped me with some of my interpretations.

I believe the project deserves to be more well known and all of the people who have been involved understood how important it has been. I loved working with the Lakes school pupils and with the families of the survivors. By speaking to the locals and these families there was an immediate connection to the archaeology we were uncovering which is unusual. This was something which I learnt a lot from.”
